The next full moon occurs on Thursday August 27 at 1118 pm. It is known as the Sturgeon Moon as sturgeon were readily caught this time of year at the Great Lakes. It is also known as the Black Cherries Moon, referring to when chokecherries become ripe. There will also be a partial Lunar Eclipse on the evening of August 27 where Earth's shadow will cover 93 percent of the moon at its peak.
