A wintry mix start Thornton’s weekend but the period will end mild and with sun

Springtime in Colorado can bring a wide variety of conditions over a short period and that will be the case this weekend. We start off with a chill and some snow but in the end, spring returns.

For today, a rain / snow mix starts us off with some minor accumulations. We then get a break for the latter part of the morning followed by some sprinkles of rain in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-40s. Tonight, a reinforcing front moves in and with it we will see some accumulating snowfall. Starting around 6:00pm, we expect snow to develop and Thornton could see 1 to 3 inches overnight. Lows will be a bit below freezing.

Saturday, a few snow showers may linger through the morning giving some minimal, additional accumulations. That will be followed by some rain in the afternoon. It will remain chilly with mostly cloudy to cloudy skies above. Saturday night, the cloud cover will slowly ease. Lows will be in the low to mid-30s.

Sunday we expect a quick, nice rebound. Mostly sunny skies will be above with highs in the mid-60s. Mid to late afternoon will bring some breezy winds.
