Denver ties the record high temperature for May 11

Record High Temperature

Summer-like conditions took hold today and the mercury climbed to record-setting territory.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the high temperature in the Mile High City topped out at 90 degrees today. This ties the record high for May 11 set in 1961.

The reading was the first 90 degree reading of the season and the fifth earliest we have hit that mark. On average, Denver sees its first 90 degree reading on June 10.

Here in Thornton, we were just a little cooler with a high of 89 degrees.

Denver breaks high temperature record for April 22

Record High Temperature

We knew it was going to be extraordinarily warm and blustery today, particularly for April. The numbers bear it out as Denver set a record high temperature for the date, one that also tied for the second warmest April reading on record.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City topped out at 89 degrees. That bests the previous record high for April 22nd of 88 degrees set in 1989. The reading was also the second warmest April temperature recorded in Denver history coming in second to a 90 degree reading on April 30, 1992.

Here in Thornton we were just a hair cooler with a high of 88 degrees.

Record Cold Temperatures

There was definitely a chill in the air this morning and the data shows it was record-setting.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the official low for the Mile High City hit 10 degrees this morning. This easily bests the previous record low for the date of 15 degrees set just two years ago in 2020.

Here in Thornton, we weren’t quite as cold with a low of 13 degrees.

We will warm up some today but temperatures will remain well below normal and we will again be dealing with blustery winds.

Denver smashes record low temperature for March 10

Old Man Winter isn’t done with the Mile High City just yet as evidenced by the bone-chilling cold this morning.

As measured at Denver International Airport, Denver’s low temperature plummeted to -7 degrees this morning. That easily bests the previous record low for March 10th of -3 degrees set in 1932.

Additionally, it puts March 10, 2022 into the books as being one of the top 10 coldest March temperatures on record and is the Mile High City’s coldest March reading since 1960.

Here in Thornton, we managed to escape getting quite that cold. We saw a low of 0 degrees at 4:12am.

Record High Temperature

Temperatures like this are sure to bring an early onset of spring fever as Denver tied the record high temperatures today.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City topped out at 74 degrees. This ties the record high for the date last set in 2009.

Here in Thornton, we stayed cooler, topping out at 71 degrees.

More mild, potentially record setting, weather will be on tap tomorrow. Then, we see a return of wintry weather for the weekend and into next week.

Denver sets record low temperature for February 23

Record Cold Temperatures

Well, our Arctic blast is now in the record books.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the low temperature in the Mile High City dropped to -7 degrees this morning. That pretty easily bests the previous record low for February 23 of -4 degrees set in 1899.

Here in Thornton we stayed just a bit warmer with a low of -4 degrees.

Denver ties record high temperature for December 1

Record High Temperature

Well, December looks to continue the mild, dry weather of the previous two months as we tied the 48 year old record high for the date.

As measured at Denver International Airport, the Mile High City’s high temperature topped out at 73 degrees. This ties the previous record high for the date last set in 1973. Here in Thornton we were actually a touch warmer with a high of 74 degrees.

We may very well follow today’s record with another tomorrow. The record high for December 2 is 74 degrees set way back in 1885. Forecast highs for tomorrow are expected to come close to matching today’s.

Denver sets a new record high temperature for November 6

Record High Temperature

The forecasts calling for a very mild weekend are beginning to bear out with one record high set today and another possible tomorrow.

At 1:13pm this afternoon, as measured at Denver International Airport, the mercury climbed to 80 degrees. This bests the previous record high for November 6 of 79 degrees set in 1934. This also is the second warmest November temperature ever recorded (81 degrees on November 17, 2017).

Here in Thornton, we stayed a bit cooler, as usual, with our high topping out at 78 degrees.

Tomorrow’s forecast calls for similar mercury readings to today. The record high for November 7 is 78 degrees, set in 1999 so it is quite possible that mark will be tied or broken.
