(National Weather Service)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As we discussed earlier in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/examiner-com\/denvers-june-2012-weather-review-month-ends-as-warmest-june-on-record-3\/\">our June weather recap<\/a>, this summer has thus far been exceedingly warm.\u00a0 Mother Nature seems intent on keeping that going, at least at the outset of July.<\/p>\n<p>At 4:36pm today the temperature at Denver International Airport reached 101\u00b0.\u00a0 This breaks the high temperature record for July 2 of 100\u00b0 last set in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably however is the fact that this was the 8th time that Denver has met or exceeded the 100\u00b0 mark.\u00a0 This is the first time since record keeping began in Denver in 1872 that this has happened.\u00a0 See the image to the right for details.<\/p>\n<p>Here in Thornton we were a bit cooler today &#8220;only&#8221; reaching 98.3\u00b0 at 2:40pm.\u00a0 This was the 11th straight day of 90\u00b0 temperatures or above for us.<\/p>\n<p>The heat looks to continue at least until Thursday.\u00a0 After that we are closely watching a change in weather patterns that may not only bring cooler temperatures but also much-needed precipitation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stay up to date with Thornton\u2019s weather:\u00a0\u2018Like\u2019 us on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ThorntonWeather\" data-bitly-type=\"bitly_hover_card\">Facebook<\/a>, follow us on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/ThorntonWeather\" data-bitly-type=\"bitly_hover_card\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0and add us to your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/102594403520791765288\" data-bitly-type=\"bitly_hover_card\">Google+<\/a>\u00a0circles<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we discussed earlier in our June weather recap, this summer has thus far been exceedingly warm.\u00a0 Mother Nature seems intent on keeping that going, at least at the outset of July.
