Not this year in the U.S. Thus far most of the United States is experiencing cooler temperatures in 2008.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncdc.noaa.gov\/oa\/ncdc.html\">National Climatic Data Center<\/a> (NCDC), much of the United States is experiencing <em>below normal <\/em>temperatures thus far in 2008.\u00a0 In all, through the end of October, over 80% of the continental United States is experiencing normal or below normal temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>This news comes on the heels of some other interesting &#8220;cool weather&#8221; recently.\u00a0\u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swissinfo.ch\/eng\/news\/travel\/Record_snow_storm_triggers_delays.html?siteSect=414&amp;sid=9908046&amp;cKey=1225359314000&amp;ty=nd\">Swiss lowlands received the most snow for October since 1931<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocala.com\/article\/20081030\/NEWS\/810301012\/1001\/NEWS01?Title=Record_cold_swept_over_the_region_Wednesday\">areas of Florida broke 150 year record temperature lows<\/a>.\u00a0 Perhaps in a somewhat ironic event, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2008\/10\/29\/commons_climate_change_bill\/\">London experienced its first October snow since 1922<\/a>\u00a0on the same day the House of Commons was debating Global Warming.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Certainly we cannot draw any real conclusions about manmade climate change or global warming from these isolated incidents but they do have to make you wonder.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-800\" title=\"Average temperature ranking for the continental United States thus far in 2008.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/01_10_2008_dvtemprank_pg1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/01_10_2008_dvtemprank_pg1.gif 425w, https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/01_10_2008_dvtemprank_pg1-150x141.gif 150w, https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/01_10_2008_dvtemprank_pg1-300x282.gif 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to\u00a0the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), much of the United States is experiencing below normal temperatures thus far in 2008.\u00a0 In all, through the end of October, over 80% of the continental United States is experiencing normal or below normal temperatures.
