Despite having been proven wrong in the past, at a symposium in Aspen this weekend Al Gore once again tried to tie recent severe weather to global warming.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Former Vice President Al Gore spoke at the “Forests at Risk: Climate Change and the Future of the American West\u201d symposium in Aspen this weekend issuing a dire warning about global warming. Gore told the crowd, \u201cIt\u2019s unprecedented and we really have to face up to it.”<\/p>\n

The Nobel Laureate and author of the book and movie “An Inconvenient Truth<\/a>” warned that the pine beetle infestation striking Colorado forests was caused by manmade climate change.\u00a0 “If you love the forest and you care about what’s happening to them, the No. 1 connection that’s happening to them is warmer temperatures,\u201d Gore told the compliant crowd.<\/p>\n

Utilizing a slideshow to demonstrate his point, Gore said, \u201cThe linkage these scientists have referred to over and over again with global warming is something some people resist but it\u2019s a fact.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using the common refrain that significant weather events are related to man\u2019s actions affecting the climate, Gore pointed to recent flooding in\u00a0Brazil<\/a> and\u00a0Australia<\/a> and\u00a0last year\u2019s flooding in his home state of Tennessee<\/a> as evidence of this.<\/p>\n

\nGore\u2019s attempts to draw parallels between weather and climate change have gotten him into trouble in the past.\u00a0\u00a0He was forced to pull images from his popular presentation<\/a> two years ago that showed an increase in natural disasters when it was found it could not be proven.\u00a0 NASA\u2019s top climate scientist\u00a0Dr. James Hansen has rebuked Gore<\/a> saying he needed to be more \u201ccareful\u201d in his claims.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
