(ThorntonWeather.com)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The big freeze that sent the temperatures in the Mile High City plummeting far below zero is not over yet.\u00a0 Continued cold weather is expected on Wednesday and the overall pattern in the longer term will be unsettled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the temperature at Denver International Airport only reached a high of -2 degrees.\u00a0 This broke the previous record low maximum for the date and is the first time in 14 years that Denver\u2019s high temperature was below zero.\u00a0 <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/temperature-record-falls-first-time-in-14-years-denvers-high-temp-did-not-get-above-zero\/\">Click here for more details on that record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet another record may fall today \u2013 that of the coldest temperature for this date.\u00a0 The record is -18 degrees set just four years ago in 2007.\u00a0 As of 6:00am the coldest it had gotten today at DIA was -17 degrees so it is a bit hit or miss as to whether or not we break the record.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here in Thornton, as of this writing, the lowest temperature today has been -14.6 degrees.\u00a0 This is the coldest temperature recorded at ThorntonWeather.com since we came online in October 2006.\u00a0 The previous coldest temperature we recorded was -14.1 degrees on December 15, 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/weather-in-denver\/how-cold-is-it-video-shows-it-is-cold-enough-to-instantly-freeze-boiling-water\" target=\"_blank\">How cold was it?
