{"id":3147,"date":"2010-12-11T06:08:27","date_gmt":"2010-12-11T13:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/?p=3147"},"modified":"2010-12-11T06:08:27","modified_gmt":"2010-12-11T13:08:27","slug":"thornton-winterfest-forecast-dry-cool-and-windy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/thornton-winterfest-forecast-dry-cool-and-windy\/","title":{"rendered":"Thornton WinterFest forecast &#8211; Dry, cool and windy"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 277px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"The detailed forecast for Thornton's WinterFest.\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_qM6V6-HRzM0\/TQN3SU1b53I\/AAAAAAAAD-Q\/ixKWI-ruVds\/s800\/winterfest-12112010.jpg\" alt=\"The detailed forecast for Thornton's WinterFest.\" width=\"277\" height=\"418\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The detailed forecast for Thornton&#39;s WinterFest.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A full day of events highlights Thornton&#8217;s annual WinterFest on Saturday and the weather should cooperate for the most part.\u00a0 It will be a bit cool and windy but there is nothing weather-wise to keep everyone from coming out to this great event.<\/p>\n<p>The outdoor activities start at 9:00 with a community walk around the multipurpose fields (108th &amp; Colorado Blvd).\u00a0 Temperatures will be right around the freezing mark at the start with northwest winds at 5 mph creating a wind chill of 28 degrees.\u00a0 It will be chilly but certainly tolerable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>WinterFest gets started in earnest at 10:00 with a full slate of events.\u00a0 By then the mercury will have climbed to 35 degrees with light winds of 7 mph.\u00a0 Skies overhead will be partly cloudy today but there should at least be intermittent sun to help warm things up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the day progresses the thermometer will rise but the winds will also be picking up.\u00a0 The high today will hit 41 degrees by about 1:00pm and hold steady there through 4:00pm when the sun starts to go down.\u00a0 Winds will gradually increase through the morning peaking by 2:00pm at 15 to 20 mph, gusting to 25 mph.\u00a0 After that they should start to die down and by 7:00pm they will be mostly calm.<\/p>\n<p>Fireworks will close out today&#8217;s events at 8:30pm and the weather will be chilly but otherwise it should be a great display.\u00a0 Temperatures by then will be down to 30 degrees but the winds will be calm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The City of Thornton has plenty of activities for the whole family today.\u00a0 From the community walk to Santa&#8217;s village, ice skating, food and a concert from the Thornton Community Band.\u00a0 Be sure to come out and join your Thornton neighbors!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofthornton.net\/Festivals\/WinterFest\/Pages\/default.aspx\">You can get more details including a complete schedule of events on the city&#8217;s website.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A full day of events highlights Thornton&#8217;s annual WinterFest on Saturday and the weather should cooperate for the most part.\u00a0 It will be a bit cool and windy but there is nothing weather-wise to keep everyone from coming out to this great event.
