{"id":300,"date":"2008-08-15T05:55:47","date_gmt":"2008-08-15T11:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/?p=300"},"modified":"2008-08-16T05:20:02","modified_gmt":"2008-08-16T11:20:02","slug":"signs-of-fall-approaching-as-cool-and-wet-hit-thornton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/colorado-weather\/signs-of-fall-approaching-as-cool-and-wet-hit-thornton\/","title":{"rendered":"Signs of Fall approaching as cool and wet hit Thornton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Updated Saturday, 8\/16\/08 @ 5:19am\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Denver officially reached a high temperature of 59 degrees on Friday (Thornton reached 58).\u00a0 This crushed the old record low maximum temperature of 68 degrees set in 1880.\u00a0 Saturday has the potential to do the same with a forecast high of 56.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated Friday,\u00a08\/15\/08 @ 2:25pm<\/strong> &#8211; A Flood Watch has been issued by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crh.noaa.gov\/bou\/\">the National Weather Service<\/a> effective immediately through Sunday morning.\u00a0 As always, keep up to date with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/wx4.php\">our real time advisories<\/a> and our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/wx21.php\">NOAA All Hazards Radio system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>From a record setting heatwave just a couple of weeks ago\u00a0to cool and wet and possibly record setting temperatures at the other end of the spectrum too!\u00a0 Colorado is nothing if not inconsistent!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-301 alignleft\" style=\"border: 0px;\" title=\"Rain and cooler temperatures prevail over the Front Range.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/rain.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"62\" height=\"69\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A closed low has developed over much of Colorado and temperatures have dropped considerably and rain has fallen over much of the Front Range.\u00a0 Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will dominate the weather Friday as will cool temperatures.\u00a0 Friday&#8217;s forecast high of 62 degrees is in fact 24 degrees <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">below<\/span> normal for this date.\u00a0\u00a0If that forecast holds true, we could set a record for the lowest high temperature for the date as well &#8211; the previous record is 69 degrees set in 1933!\u00a0 The same holds true for Saturday as well with a forecast high the same as Friday and the lowest high temperature on record of 68 degrees set way back in 1874.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The rain brings much needed moisture to the Front Range but it will be slow in falling and shouldn&#8217;t pose much in the way of flooding problems.\u00a0 As of this writing, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockymountainweather.net\/\">Rocky Mountain Weather Network<\/a> is showing pretty consistent precipitation across the metro area with 0.29&#8243; having fallen at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\">ThorntonWeather.com<\/a> so far.\u00a0 The moisture\u00a0will be on and off\u00a0through Saturday night and then begin decreasing Sunday and into Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-302\" style=\"border: 0px;\" title=\"Warmer temperatures should return next week.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/ptcloud.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"62\" height=\"69\" \/>It looks like the first part of next week we will return to more seasonal weather and temperatures into the 80&#8217;s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Updated Saturday, 8\/16\/08 @ 5:19am\u00a0&#8211; Denver officially reached a high temperature of 59 degrees on Friday (Thornton reached 58).\u00a0 This crushed the old record low maximum temperature of 68 degrees set in 1880.\u00a0 Saturday has the potential to do the same with a forecast high of 56.
