Thornton enjoyed everything from spring-like days with mild temperatures to a healthy round of snow and cold.<\/p>\n<p>The month started out mild with seven of the first nine days of the month seeing above normal temperatures and pleasant conditions. A cold front and storm system moved in on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> though and brought about significant changes for a few days and our first snow of the month.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/april-2019-top-shots-monthly-photo-slideshow\/\">April 2019 top shots: Monthly photo slideshow<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Warmer weather returned though and on the 20<sup>th<\/sup> we recorded our first 80 degree day of the year. Showers and thunderstorms on the 21<sup>st<\/sup> brought some much-needed rain then we dried back out for the next six days. We saw a couple more 80+ degree days then the final two days chilled things out and delivered a bit more snow.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton\u2019s overall average temperature for the month came in at 49.6 degrees. This was a good bit above Denver\u2019s long-term April average of 47.4 degrees. Out at DIA where the Mile High City\u2019s official measurements are kept, the average temperature was similar with 49.1 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in Thornton ranged from a high of 81.4 degrees on the 26<sup>th<\/sup> down to a low of 17.5 degrees on the 11<sup>th<\/sup>. Denver saw a high reading of 80 degrees on the 20<sup>th<\/sup> and a low of 17 on the 11<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of precipitation, Denver averages 1.71 inches during April. Both Thornton and Denver fell short of that mark with 0.78 inches and 1.25 inches in their rain buckets respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Snowfall in Thornton was respectable with 8.1 inches of the white stuff. Denver was well short of that with 3.5 inches.
