{"id":16555,"date":"2016-07-06T17:13:48","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T23:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/?p=16555"},"modified":"2016-07-08T05:23:20","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T11:23:20","slug":"june-2016-weather-recap-temps-above-normal-precipitation-below","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/june-2016-weather-recap-temps-above-normal-precipitation-below\/","title":{"rendered":"June 2016 weather recap: Temps above normal, precipitation below"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The month of June was highly variable, as Colorado\u2019s weather always is.\u00a0 However, high pressure dominated the pattern overall leading to a month with temperatures slightly above normal and precipitation below average.<\/p>\n<p>We started out on the cool side of things and enjoyed a very wet first day of the month. Little did we know that the moisture we received on that day would make up the vast majority of the total for the entire month.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/june-2016-top-shots-monthly-photo-slideshow\/\">June 2016 top shots: Monthly photo slideshow<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>High pressure built and the next 10 days were largely dry and warmer than normal.\u00a0 The 11th, 12th and 13th did finally bring some precipitation to Thornton although the first two of those three days was unseasonably warm.<\/p>\n<p>For the latter half of the month, dry and warm were the key weather words.\u00a0 Temperatures were above normal on 14 of the 17 days and only three days saw precipitation.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton\u2019s overall monthly temperature came in at 71.3 degrees. That is well above Denver\u2019s historical June average of 67.4 degrees. Out at the airport, Denver\u2019s average came in a bit cooler at 70.8 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in Thornton ranged from a high of 98.6 degrees on the 21st down to a low of 47.6 degrees on the 14th. The Mile High City saw its highest reading of 98 degrees on the 21st as well and its coolest of 49 degrees on the 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of precipitation, Denver averages 1.98 inches during the month of June.
