{"id":16000,"date":"2016-01-07T16:53:45","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T23:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/?p=16000"},"modified":"2016-01-08T05:32:03","modified_gmt":"2016-01-08T12:32:03","slug":"2015-thornton-annual-weather-recap-above-normal-temps-lots-of-precipitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/2015-thornton-annual-weather-recap-above-normal-temps-lots-of-precipitation\/","title":{"rendered":"2015 Thornton annual weather recap: Above normal temps, lots of precipitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The year that was lacked any major drama in terms of the weather.\u00a0 Winter and severe weather conditions during their seasons were pretty typical.\u00a0 Overall, the year saw temperatures and precipitation end above average.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton\u2019s average annual temperature for 2015 came in at 51.1 degrees.\u00a0 That was a bit above Denver\u2019s historical average of 50.5 degrees.\u00a0 Out at DIA where the Mile High City\u2019s official measurements were taken, the average was 52.0 degrees.\u00a0 Denver\u2019s reading made the year the 18th warmest on record.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in Thornton ranged from a high of 98.1 degrees on August XX down to a low of -3.7 degrees on January XX.\u00a0 We saw 44 days of high temperatures at or above 90 degrees and 131 days with low temperatures below the freezing mark.<\/p>\n<p>Out at the airport, Denver saw a maximum of 98 degrees on August 15 and a low of 10 degrees below zero on January 4.\u00a0 Officially the city saw 48 90 degrees days and 126 days with lows below freezing.<\/p>\n<p>Denver averages 39.6 days of 90 degrees temperatures and 156.9 days with lows below 32 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of precipitation, both Thornton and Denver saw their rain buckets record above normal levels.\u00a0 Thornton measured 20.81 inches while DIA was drier with 18.31 inches.\u00a0 Both marks were well above the annual average of 14.30 inches.\u00a0 For Denver, it was the 25th wettest year on record.<\/p>\n<p>Snow as well finished above normal for the calendar year.\u00a0 Average is 53.8 inches.\u00a0 Thornton recorded a hefty 72.1 inches of the white stuff.\u00a0 Denver lagged us but was still above average with 64.4 inches.\u00a0 February was the snowiest month for both locations with Thornton recording 26.7 inches and Denver 22.4 inches.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/climatedatayearout2015.html\">Click here to view Thornton\u2019s 2015 climate summary report<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-Vsai80L9D0Q\/Vo2oWTnyVWI\/AAAAAAAADho\/FNh02fh9RZM\/s560-Ic42\/2015-Temps.jpg\" alt=\"Thornton, Colorado's 2015 Temperature Summary.
