{"id":15207,"date":"2015-05-04T05:25:43","date_gmt":"2015-05-04T11:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/?p=15207"},"modified":"2015-05-04T05:25:43","modified_gmt":"2015-05-04T11:25:43","slug":"april-2015-weather-recap-thornton-sees-warmer-wetter-than-normal-conditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/april-2015-weather-recap-thornton-sees-warmer-wetter-than-normal-conditions\/","title":{"rendered":"April 2015 weather recap: Thornton sees warmer, wetter than normal conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We began the month of April in the need of moisture and while we didn\u2019t do much to bolster our snowfall numbers, rain proved to be a big help.\u00a0 Temperatures were relatively stable but did end up a bit above average.<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the month offered mostly dry conditions and warmer than normal temperatures.\u00a0 The only real exception was a light snowfall on the 2nd and 3rd of the month.\u00a0 Otherwise we saw virtually no precipitation for the first 15 days of April.<\/p>\n<p>The latter half however saw a shift in the weather pattern courtesy of a number of storm systems that moved through.\u00a0 These led to cooler temperatures and some nice shots of precipitation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/blog\/thornton-weather\/april-2015-top-shots-monthly-photo-slideshow\/\"><em>April\u00a02015 top shots: Monthly photo slideshow<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A system on the 15th and 16th brought only 3.9 inches of snowfall but a healthy 1.68 inches of liquid precipitation from snowmelt and rain.\u00a0 We then remained mostly dry up until the 26th when another good shot of rain arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton\u2019s average temperature for April 2015 was 49.0 degrees, a good bit above the long term April average of 47.4 degrees.\u00a0 Out at the airport, Denver saw similar readings to ours with an average of 48.7 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in Thornton ranged from a low of 24.0 degrees on the morning of the 4th up to a high of 80.7 degrees on the 30th.\u00a0 Denver\u2019s coldest reading was 27 degrees on the 3rd and its warmest came on the 30th with a temperature of 79 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of precipitation, Thornton saw 2.68 inches of precipitation for the month.\u00a0 Officially, as measured at DIA, Denver took a very similar 2.65 inches into their bucket.\u00a0 Both readings were a good ways above the April average of 1.71 inches.<\/p>\n<p>Snowfall failed to be anything extraordinary.\u00a0 Both Thornton and Denver saw 5.3 inches of the white stuff, a good bit below the average of 6.8 inches.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thorntonweather.com\/climatedataout42015.html\">Click here to view Thornton\u2019s April 2015 climate report<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-R2LgUbcSXoo\/VUdWFt0DJOI\/AAAAAAAADY4\/5qqdZlJPAwI\/s560\/04-2015-temps.jpg\" alt=\"Thornton, Colorado temperatur?e summary for April 2015.
