Today, Thornton will hold its 11th annual Harvest Fest celebration. We have all begun to feel the arrival of fall in cooler nights and a lot of up and down days. This morning we are waking to pretty thick cloud cover and some areas, including ThorntonWeather.com, have already recorded a little bit of rain.Â

In general, we are forecasting a high temperature today at Community Park of 61 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Winds will be slightly breezy in the 8 to 10mph range and initially out of the north and then shifting from the east-southeast around noon.Â
As vendors and visitors start arriving at 9:00am, the temperature will be a cool 54 degrees with 75% humidity. That humidity is a good indicator of the moisture that is in the atmosphere and the wind shift we mention above points to an upslope condition developing. As that happens, the chance for precipitation will increase into the ‘likely’ category and there is a pretty good chance things will get wetter after noon. We most likely won’t see a great deal of rain in the afternoon in terms of amounts but it may be enough to put a damper on the festival.Â
In a nutshell, right now it unfortunately looks like Harvest Fest will be a cool and wet one. Hopefully the rain will hold off enough to allow folks to have a good time.Â
