Forecast gives ‘at least 10% chance’ for Denver area to receive 4+ inches of snow

Thursday, February 7th, 2013 10:25am MDT

While the latest forecast models have indicated a track for the coming storm that would take it across central Colorado rather than the preferred southern route that would yield the most snow in Denver, there is still a chance we could see some decent snowfall this weekend.

The latest probability forecasts from the National Weather Service’s Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC) indicate Denver is in an area with at least a 10% probability of receiving 4 or more inches of snowfall from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.  While it would be less exciting, there is a very good chance of at least 1 inch of snow – in the 60 to 70 percent range.

With the state’s snowpack at 75% of normal, any and all snow is very welcome at this point.  The coming storm should help to drive up those numbers at least a little bit.
