City of Thornton closes portions of the Eastlake Nature Preserve due to coyotes

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 10:44am MDT

The city said today it was closing portions of the Eastlake Nature Preserve after residents had run-ins with coyotes.  For those not familiar with it, the Eastlake Nature Preserve is the open space area near 128th & Filmore / York.  The city says, “The City of Thornton is closing a portion of the Eastlake Nature Preserve due to danger from coyotes in the area. Encounters between humans and their pets have been reported in a specific area of the park. City staff will cordon off the area and will post signs to warn people to stay away. People will still be able to use the site, but will not be able to make a complete loop around the lake due to the trail closure.”
