Weekend weather in Thornton to offer a mixed bag of snow, wind and calm

Friday, November 29th, 2019 5:03am MDT

There is a little bit of everything in the three-day forecast. Today looks to offer up a bit of snow, tomorrow brings the wind and then we wrap things up with calm but chilly conditions Sunday.

For today, fog will be the biggest concern initially and a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9:00am. After that, partly clear skies will be above. The afternoon will bring a chance for some rain / snow showers. At this time, minimal accumulations are expected however the system does show a good bit of instability so there is an outside chance for a fast inch or two. Highs today will only be around freezing. Tonight, skies will see some clearing with lows in the mid-20s. Wind speeds will be picking up after about 9:00pm.

Saturday brings the never-fun wind. The downslope flow will allow warming to the low 40s under partly sunny skies. However, wind speeds will be increasing with gusts to 40+ mph possible by noon. Saturday evening the winds will quickly ease. Overnight Saturday into Sunday, mostly clear skies will be above with overnight lows in the teens.

Sunday looks to be the calmest day of the weekend although it will be chilly. Sunny skies will be above with highs in the mid to upper 30s. Have a great weekend!
