Thursday brings much-needed relief from the heat to Thornton

Thursday, June 18th, 2020 5:06am MDT

Finally! The arrival of a cold front last night signifies a change in our hot, dry weather pattern for at least a couple of days. We will be enjoying much more pleasant temperatures today and later, a chance for rain.

The day starts off sunny with perhaps some continued haze aloft from the wildfires in Arizona. Around noon we will see cloud cover increase with partly sunny skies above from mid-afternoon on. High temperatures today will only be in the mid-70s, a marked improvement from the unseasonably warm temps of the past week or so.

As for precipitation, some light, scattered activity will be seen after 3:00pm and into the evening. Activity should pick up just before sunset and last for a few hours before easing overnight. There isn’t a tremendous amount of moisture with the first part of this system but any precipitation will be welcome.

Overnight lows tonight will dip to the low to mid-50s.
