Thornton’s workweek starts with chilly and wet conditions with more for the rest of the week

Monday, May 20th, 2019 5:14am MDT

Last week we enjoyed unseasonably warm temperatures and relatively dry conditions. Today we begin a swing the other way with mercury readings well below normal and a good bit of moisture including a chance for snow overnight.

A solid cloud layer will be above throughout the day with no break in coverage expected. Winds will be a bit blustery and out of the northeast.

Light rain will be seen this morning then coverage and intensity will increase by late morning / early afternoon. Look for showers continue through tonight. We may see a bit of thunder mixed in by late afternoon.

Temperatures today will top out in the mid-40s, well below the average high for the date of 73 degrees.

Tonight, showers will continue and, as temperatures drop, some snow may get mixed in after midnight and before dawn tomorrow. Some light accumulations will be possible on grassy areas. Overnight lows will be in the mid-30s.

Stay warm and dry!
