Thornton’s workweek starts off with potentially record-setting heat

Monday, August 19th, 2019 5:08am MST

High pressure has settled in and will be keeping things pretty stable today and allow temperatures to climb. With a good dose of sun, temperatures will push toward record-setting highs.

Sunny skies start us off early this morning and then we will have just a few clouds for the balance of the day but nothing too intrusive.

With little moisture and a stable atmosphere, we do not expect any thunderstorms. Highs today will be well above normal and will come close to the record high for the date of 97 degrees set in 1986.

Tonight, partly cloudy skies will be above with overnight low temperatures in the mid-60s.

What lies ahead for the rest of the week? See here.
