Thornton’s weekend to offer a break from the wind, warmer temperatures

Friday, April 8th, 2022 5:20am MDT

After three days of nearly unrelenting wind, we finally see that ease just in time for the weekend. Today and tomorrow will be a good bit warmer than normal before a cold front cools things down Sunday.

For today, sunny skies are going to be the rule throughout. High temperatures will be reaching the upper 60s. There will be some breezy winds late but nothing like recent days. Tonight, skies will be mostly clear with lows around 40 degrees.

Saturday will be the warmest day of the three day period. Look for highs to push into the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Breezy winds will be seen for much of the day. Saturday night, a cold front arrives. Cloud cover will increase and there will be just a slight chance for some sprinkles of rain overnight. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Sunday cools down with highs in the mid to upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. We will see a bit of wind as well but nothing as strong as earlier this week.

Beyond that, the main focus is on a storm system arriving toward the middle of next week that will have the potential to have a big impact. We are still a ways out from it and models are not entirely in agreement. However, some do point toward a very healthy shot of snow and some strong winds. Much can change between now and then so just enjoy what we have for this weekend.
