Thornton’s Thursday promises a healthy dose of sun and heat

Thursday, July 18th, 2019 4:51am MDT

Ladies and gentlemen, start those air conditioners and swamp coolers! You will be needing them today as the mercury will be climbing into potentially record-setting territory and giving us our first 100 degree day of the year.

Sunny skies us off and will be with us throughout the day. A few clouds may appear this afternoon but not with enough density that will alleviate the heat.

As for temperatures, they will be climbing quickly this morning and by 10:00am or so we will be pushing 90 degrees on toward our forecast high this afternoon of 100 degrees. If Denver his the century mark, it would be a record high for the date with the current record being 99 degrees set in 1998.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear with lows in the mid-60s.

Stay cool!
