Thornton’s first wintry blast of the season to deliver cold, some snow

Thursday, October 10th, 2019 5:04am MST

From the warm to the cold in 24 hours – that is Colorado! After a high in the 80s yesterday, today’s temperatures will struggle to get to freezing and light snow will be seen.

Cloudy skies will be above for much of the day but by the afternoon and evening we may see a few breaks in the cover.

High temperatures today will only reach to right around the freezing mark. Winds to 25mph or so will add to the cold offering wind chill temperatures in the teens for much of the day.

In terms of snow, we do still see the potential for an inch or two, mainly from now through about noon. After that, only minimal accumulations, if any, will be seen as things begin to taper off.

Tonight, skies will begin to clear and lows will drop to the mid-teens.

There is currently a Freeze Warning in effect until 9:00am and a Winter Weather Advisory until 6:00pm. We likely will see a Freeze Warning tacked on for tonight as well. Bundle up and be safe out there!
