Mild temps Monday but wind brings a return of dangerous fire conditions

Monday, May 9th, 2022 5:00am MDT

The basics of today’s forecast don’t look bad with plenty of sun and above normal temperatures. However, the afternoon will see winds pick up and that will lead to elevated fire danger.

We start out with some cloud cover but that will largely dissipate this morning with sunny skies expected in the late morning and through the afternoon. High temperatures will top out in the mid-70s. Winds will increase late morning and be breezy in the afternoon and early evening.

The wind coupled with low humidity and dry fuels has prompted a Red Flag Warning from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Please be very careful!

Tonight, winds will ease and skies will be mostly clear. Overnight lows will be around 40 degrees.
