After a warm start, most of Thornton’s Memorial Day weekend to be cooler, wetter

Friday, May 28th, 2021 5:06am MDT

Unfortunately, not exactly ideal weather conditions for the holiday weekend. Friday will be the warmest and nicest day of the period but then conditions become unsettled and wet for the latter half.

For today, after some early, low clouds / fog, mostly sunny skies will be above for the balance. Highs will top out near the 80 degree mark. There is just a slight chance to see a thunderstorm in the mid to late afternoon. Tonight, skies will be partly clear with overnight lows near 50 degrees.

A front moves in Saturday and that will start a trend toward cooler, unsettled conditions. It will be mostly sunny early then clouds will slowly increase. Highs will top out around the 70 degree mark. The afternoon and evening will bring some scattered thunderstorm activity. Saturday night, showers will be possible with lows around 50 degrees.

Sunday is going to be the least desirable day of the period. Mostly cloudy to cloudy skies will be above with some breezy winds. Rain showers will be pretty dominant, particularly in the afternoon. Highs will only be around 60. Sunday night into Monday showers will ease some with lows in the mid-40s.

Memorial Day will see some improvement over Sunday but not much. Mostly cloudy skies will remain and showers will decrease a bit but still be possible, particularly in the afternoon. Highs will be in the low 60s.

Have a great weekend and please, take time to remember the fallen – they are the reason for Memorial Day.
