Winter storm arrives bringing healthy dose of snow on Sunday
Sunday, February 24th, 2013 6:26am MDTWinter storm arrives bringing healthy dose of snow on Sunday. Overnight snowfall wasn’t particularly extraordinary but has picked up in intensity and coverage this morning. The snow will continue through the day with the heaviest amounts falling through noon. After that we will see a gradual easing and the snow ending around midnight.
Snowfall totals for the Denver metro area will be in the 4 to 10 inch range with the southern suburbs enjoying the highest totals. To the north here in Thornton we will unfortunately at the lower end of the totals reported when the storm ends. A range of 5 to 8 inches for our area seems possible at this point for us.
The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Storm Warning for the Front Range and it now runs until 8:00pm. The Blizzard Warning for areas to the south and east of us run until 11:00pm.
