Thornton’s workweek starts with unseasonably warm temps, chance for storms

Monday, September 11th, 2017 4:53am MDT

High pressure continues to dominate and will again aid in leading to above normal temperatures. We do see an increase in moisture and that is going to lead to a better chance for PM storms however.

The day starts out with partly sunny skies and we will see similar sky conditions throughout much of the day. Look for an increase in clouds in the mid to late afternoon as storms begin to approach. Temperatures today will top out in the mid to upper 80s, a good bit above the average of 81 degrees for the date.

By mid-afternoon some isolated storms will begin moving off the mountains and onto lower elevations. Our best chances for activity will come after 5:00pm and last into the evening. Gusty winds, perhaps some brief, moderate rain are the threats.

Tonight, any storms should settle down by midnight then we head toward a low in the upper 50s under partly clear skies.
