Thornton rebounds with a mild Wednesday but extended forecast calls for return to cold

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 6:38am MST

We hate to keep using the term ‘weather rollercoaster’ but it seems to fit the recent weather conditions and what is to come.  From cold to warm and then back to cold is a pattern that we have been seeing and will continue to see.

For Wednesday we will see more cloud cover above but that won’t inhibit temperatures much.  Look for a high today around 55 degrees with dry conditions.

The warm up will be short-lived however as a series of fronts will affect the area and bring temperatures down.  The first will be hitting the mountains this afternoon and usher in heavy snowfall for the Colorado high country.  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for those areas.

Here at lower elevations tomorrow will be cooler with highs in the low 40s.  We will see a chance for snow from tomorrow afternoon through Friday.  This isn’t certain by any means at this point.  We’ll get a better feel for it as it gets closer.

Temperatures will continue to decrease Friday and through the weekend.  The workweek will close out with highs in the mid to upper 30s followed by highs around 30 degrees through the weekend.
