Presidents’ Day to bring cold, accumulating snow to Thornton

Monday, February 16th, 2015 5:37am MST

The snow that began yesterday afternoon continued overnight and will keep falling for the better part of the day today.

As of this writing Thornton has received just over 3 inches since the event began.  We expect to see an additional 1 to 3 inches between now and midnight tonight.  A second surge is expected to begin around 8:00am and last through noon or so before things slowly begin tapering off with snow coming to an end by midnight or so.

Temperatures will remain quite cold, topping out only around the freezing mark.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and that remains in effect until 3:00pm.  Roads are already slushy and very wet and driving will be a bit of a challenge.  Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time on your commute.

All the latest can be found on our Winter #Weather Briefing Page here.
