Mother Nature turns on the furnace for Thornton’s Tuesday

Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 5:04am MDT

The heat is on! Our expected (and perhaps dreaded) short heat wave begins today with temperatures pushing toward record-highs.

We begin the day with sunny skies and will see similar conditions through the morning. This afternoon a few clouds may arrive but they won’t be intrusive nor are they expected to have much impact on temperatures.

Look for the mercury to begin climbing quickly early as we head toward a high around 95 degrees. The record for the date is 97 degrees (1968) so it is going to be close. Tonight it will be partly clear with lows only going down to the mid-60s.

Keep an eye on the rising mercury with our live gauges here.
