Mild temperatures, breezy winds and increased fire danger for Thursday

Thursday, April 19th, 2018 5:02am MDT

Unseasonably warm temperatures return to Thornton today. So too, unfortunately, are breezy wind and when coupled with the dry conditions we again see heightened fire danger.

The day starts off pleasant with mostly sunny skies. Cloud cover will increase, particularly in the afternoon, leading to partly clear skies in the PM. Cool temperatures start things out but then we see a steady warm up with highs today in the upper 60s. W

ind speeds will increase in the afternoon and become pretty breezy, continuing into the first half of tonight. The wind coupled with low humidity and dry fuels have prompted a Red Flag Warning to be issued due to increased fire danger. It won’t take much to get a fire started and if one does, it could grow quickly.

Tonight, we will continue to see a good bit of cloud cover with lows around 40 degrees.
