Friday and Saturday promise very mild conditions, Sunday seasonal with possible rain

Friday, February 13th, 2015 5:10am MST

A little bit of a mixed bag of weather for Thornton over the three day period.  While today and tomorrow promised spring-like conditions, a weak system will bring a return to more seasonal temperatures Sunday and perhaps bring a chance for rain.

For Friday, we start out the day with just a bit of cloud cover but in the end we will be seeing sunny skies.  Winds will be light and temperatures climbing nicely to a high in the mid-60s.

Saturday looks to be very similar to today, including having about the same temperature reading.

Recent model runs have advanced the timing on Sunday’s system and that will impact daytime conditions.  A weak cold front will be working its way in early in the day and that will limit high temperatures to around normal (46 degrees).  There is a slight chance we could see some precipitation in the form of light rain Sunday afternoon.  A second, reinforcing system pushes in Sunday night and that will bring colder temperatures Monday and a chance for snow.

The picture for Sunday through Tuesday is pretty fluid right now and it wouldn’t be surprising to see further changes as we get closer.  You can get the latest extended forecast here.
