Downslope winds to help break Thornton out of the chill Tuesday

Tuesday, February 12th, 2019 5:01am MDT

Relief from the cold of the past week should finally arrive today. Downslope winds will drive temperatures to near normal levels and finally bump us above the freezing mark for only the second time in the past week.

The day starts off with clear skies. Some clouds will arrive but be slow to build and never be too intrusive. Winds will be out of the southwest and become a bit breezy by mid to late morning and last until the evening.

The warming, downslope flow will aid in driving temperatures up. Look for highs today in the mid to upper 40s.

Tonight, skies will be mostly cloudy with lows near the 20 degree mark.
