Big changes on the way Sunday and Monday – Winter Weather Advisory issued

Sunday, February 15th, 2015 4:01am MDT

A couple of systems combined with cold fronts are going to usher in colder – and snowier weather for the next 36 hours or so.

The first front is working its way into eastern Colorado this morning.  Temperatures today will only be in the mid-30s.  Snow is expected to begin around noon and we should see a period of snowfall through this evening. Thornton is looking at 1 to 2 inches over that time.

Overnight tonight things will slow down quite a bit but that is just a lull before the next system arrives tomorrow morning.  An additional 1 to 3 inches will be possible during Monday’s daytime hours.  Needless to say, your commutes tomorrow may be a bit rough so plan accordingly.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that includes Thornton and is in effect from noon today through 3:00pm Monday.  Our Winter Weather Briefing Page is your one-stop shop for the coming storms – check it out.
